Instagram for Artists

One of my most-requested course topics!

SUITABLE FOR:
  • artists and creatives who have an Instagram account but don’t know what to do with it
  • or are posting periodically but aren’t sure what to post or how often
  • or are posting regularly but feel like they are lacking some skills and knowledge to leverage Instagram’s unique advantages, to connect and build an audience.

Three classes, each 90 minutes long: the first and third were live (students and I together on Zoom), the second was pre-recorded with a combination of examples to look at and study, demonstrations by me and actions and skills for you to try out and practice. Replay videos to registered students for one year after purchase.

TOPICS INCLUDE:
  • creating an effective profile
  • photo formats, pixel sizes, and optimizing your images
  • how to adjust images when you don't have Photoshop
  • determining your objectives
  • what makes good content
  • coming up with post ideas
  • engaging to build connection
  • the power of hashtags
  • Instagram's algorithm, and what it means for you
  • personal vs professional accounts (or managing two)
  • marketing for sales (introductory)
  • the power of video
  • Instagram Stories
  • and a personal favourite: how to post multiple images in a single post so you don't swamp your followers' newsfeeds (something they never thank you for!)
  • plus I answer questions

Students who took my previous course on Instagram were amazed at how much there was to learn about it, but of course you don’t need to do it all to make an impact or make it useful

ABOUT ME:
I am a professional multidisciplinary artist, a very experienced instructor in both art and technology, with over 10 years' experience in the first, and literally decades of experience in the latter.

As an artist I have been on Instagram for a few years now and have generally been very active on social media for much longer, to build community, share ideas and work, and market my offerings.

I will share my insights based on that and my many years of marketing knowledge and experience in my previous career as a graphic designer and creative director.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  1. The latest version of in Instagram app installed on your phone (or if your phone is not recent, the latest version it is compatible with, which may not have all of the capabilities of the current version);
  2. an Instagram account (personal is fine). Please let me know in advance if you need help setting one up, but it is not difficult, so give it a try first.
  3. Some photographs of your artwork (or if you are another kind of creative it could be designs or events/performances).

The live sessions are now over, but you can still purchase the video replay version:

COST:
Video-only option: $60
for one-year access to three videos (two replays of live classes and one pre-recorded), and any handouts (in pdf format).

TO REGISTER:
Please indicate "Instagram video" in the comment line with your payment, (or email) otherwise things can get mixed up! Thank you :-)
