be found everywhere... by paying attention. 
From a recent – excellent – meal at Yoshi Sushi in Barrie. Highly recommended!

Getting New Work Ready

A new print dries after getting a final pour coat.
Getting new work ready for a show that opens in late January has put me face-to-face with annoying, habitual, preventable problems. Naturally my inner critic thinks of them as character defects but I have learned that it exaggerates!

What kind of problems? Starting with: I could have completed this work 3 years ago when the images were first developed. Mind you I think I have a better way of presenting them now than I did then, so probably I would have re-done them anyway.

Lack of forethought: I am mid-way coating the print with glue when I realize that despite gathering what I needed in three separate trips, I failed to collect the brayer to roll my print down. My very kind husband bailed me out of that one.

Finally: my house is far from pristine which means I have to battle all manner of dust and fluff, (that can interfere with gluing and ruin a pour coat), not to mention clutter, which can make it hard to do anything.

Conditions are never perfect and neither am I. I realize that in the end what matters is that the work is getting done!

    As a visual artist I like nothing more than getting up to my elbows in paint or little plastic toys, or wading in at the deep end in pursuit of an idea. When I am not teaching others in a similar vein, you can find me researching, writing and noodling around in my studio, seeing where my latest lines of inquiry lead me.
